The use of mulching increases the efficiency of irrigation water use and assists in the maintenance of nutrients. However, the knowledge of the management method for this new method, is still incipient and needs a scientific deepening. In this context, this work was developed with the objective of evaluating the cultivars Pérola and Vitória in different methods of weed control in the north of Espirito Santo. The experimental design adopted was that of blocks matched in a 2x4 factorial scheme, with four replications. Two cultivars (Pérola and Vitória) and four weed control methods (chemical weeding, manual weeding, plastic mulching + manual weeding, plastic mulching + chemical weeding) were used, making up eight treatments. In the blocks each subplot was constituted by 72 plants (three double rows of 24 plants, 12 plants per single row), of which 20 were useful. The variables analyzed were: vigor, height, SPAD index, leaf length \"D\", number of pups, fresh mass, dry mass of \"D\" leaf, fruit yield without crown, crown weight, fruit weight without crown , diameter of the fruit, diameter of the cylindrical axis, juice yield, soluble solids, fruit length, pH and nutrients. The vigor index 3.0 was the highest found, with chemical weeding plus mulching in the cultivar victory. For the height of the plants, the cultivar Pearl with chemical weeding plus mulching was the largest with 80.35 cm. In the Pearl cultivar with manual weeding plus mulching presented the highest SPAD index with 85.34. On the length of leaf \"D\" the pearl cultivar along with the control methods that contained mulching, were the largest with 92.10 cm and 88.80 cm respectively. Plants that presented mulching within the control method had the largest number of pups, with 4.25 and among the cultivars, the highest number was in the Pearl with 5.43. For fresh mass and dry mass of the leaf \"D\" to the cultivar Pérola obtained the greatest results. For the yield of the fruits without crown with 71.71 tons / ha-1, weight of the fruit without crown with 1400.7 g, diameter of the cylindrical axis with 2.24 cm and yield with 48.31% for the cultivar Pérola. The soluble solids of the cultivar Vitória with mulching obtained the highest ºbrix 15.76 and between the weeds to the chemical weeding in the cultivation Vitória had 15.71 ºbrix, being the largest. The length of the fruit was higher in the Pérola cultivar with manual weeding plus mulching, with 21.24 cm. The highest pH value was found in the cultivar Vitória without mulching. Regarding nutrients, Pérola cultivar was superior in nitrogen with 18.96 g / kg and Vitória cultivar was superior in magnesium with 3.92 g / kg. And the boron was higher, WHERE there was the presence of mulching with 33.81 mg / kg and also in manual weeding with 34.62 mg / kg. Considering all variables analyzed, cv. Pearl, the application of mulching plus the use of chemical weeding, were the most indicated for the production of pineapple in the north of Espírito Santo. The application of the mulching in the pineapple provided the reduction of herbicide, making it a more sustainable crop.
